The increasing globalisation of the economies and the fierce competition between companies demands the reinforcement of the competitive capabilities of companies using the scientific knowledge and the technological development as the most effective tool to face competition.
The creation and development of an entrepreneurial culture must be promoted through the implementation of entrepreneurship programmes for teachers and students at high school and university levels, the reduction of bureaucratic obstacles for the creation of new firms, the support to the access to financing, the promotion of the shared of risk between the public and private sector, in order to reduce the stigma of failure and reward of the entrepreneurial initiative.
The creation of Parkurbis, Science and Technology Park of Covilhã joined a group of entities efforts in order to make real a strategic project for innovation and entrepreneurship aiming the support to the R&D projects to become entrepreneurial realities.
New opportunities become, now, possible for the development of new industries, in the Region, attracting national and international investors, providing the traditional industries with a new innovative capability, diversifying and improving producing technologies and equipments based on the most recent technological development.
